Spam problem of external e-mail providers Currently, there are problems receiving e-mails with certain providers (including gmx and web.de) due to stricter spam rules.

Unfortunately, this can also affect mails from mail servers of the Universität Bonn. (see also https://www.heise.de/news/Keine-Mails-von-Stadtverwaltungen-Zu-viel-Spam-bei-GMX-und-Web-de-5271541.html) For the central mail servers, we are in contact with the providers mentioned above.

In this context, we would like to point out that this also affects automatic forwarding of @uni-bonn.de addresses to external mail providers. They are often marked as spam or not accepted at all. It is to be expected that the providers will also tighten their spam filtering in the future.

In order to ensure that you do not lose any e-mails, we therefore recommend that you do not use the automatic forwarding function and access your @uni-bonn.de mailbox directly. We offer various instructions for setting up your mail account for this purpose at https://www.hrz.uni-bonn.de/de/services/e-mail/einrichten-verwenden/e-mail-client.

Please also note that setting up a POP3 retrieval of your @uni-bonn.de mailbox, as offered by some mail providers, is not permitted according to the user regulations of the HRZ. For this, you would have to pass on the password of your Uni-ID, which makes you liable for any misuse by third parties.
