Securing Uni Bonn E-Mails
If your Uni-ID is expiring soon, you should save important e-mails before your Uni-ID is deleted.
Due to the variety of e-mail programs and e-mail providers being used, a standardized instruction for locally securing the e-mails in your inbox is not possible.
If you already know of a method on how to secure your e-mails locally, please make use of it. You might also get support from your new e-mail provider or from sources on the internet.
In case you cannot find a way on how to save your important e-mails, you can use following emergency solution. Unfortunately you will come across these drawbacks:
- All of the migrated e-mails will be labelled as “new” in your inbox
- All e-mails will not hold the original date of sending but the date of the migration
- If you have created several folders, these will not be migrated
- This emergency solution is not suitable to save hundreds of e-mails
You can undertake the following steps:
- Enter the following link in your web browser: https://mail.uni-bonn.de/
- Enter your Uni-ID and the complementary password
- Select the layout “Viewpoint”
- Click on the folder “INBOX” with the left mouse button
- Select the important e-mails that you wish to save
- Enter your private e-mail address
- Click on “Redirect”. It is essential that you do not click the option “Forward” but “Redirect”
- Repeat the steps 1-6 for all folders and e-mails that you wish to save.
Please keep in mind that there is a limit of 120 e-mails within 6 hours.
Additionally, you can export your contact list.
- Click on the contacts-symbol to get to the contacts settings
- Choose “Export VCard 21. Details/data” or “Export VCard 3.0 details/data” to receive a “.vcf” or “.vcard”-file with your saved contacts.
