Application for conference accounts

Note: guest-bonnet is an unsecured access for guests of a conference at the University of Bonn.

The data will be transmitted unencrypted after your registration. Therefore, please make sure that you use either secure protocols (e.g. https) or an additional VPN connection!

Conference accounts can also be applied for by persons who are not members of the University of Bonn; the requirement is that the event has been officially booked in the rooms of the University.

There are no additional costs for the use of the WLAN, they are covered by the rent for the room. 

The accounts are valid for the duration of the conference and must be applied for by the organizer of the conference using the appropriate form at least two weeks prior to the beginning of the event. 

You will then receive a Word and Excel file from us via e-mail, from which you can create the document for your guests using the serial letter function.

We require the following information:

  • Title of the event (if necessary also in English)
  • Duration of the event
  • max. number of participants
  • abbreviation for the logon ID of the form gast000@<abbreviation>
  • A distinction is made between upper and lower case!
  • The accounts are numbered consecutively and the abbreviation is used as the identification of your event. It should be self-explaining, but not be too long (e.g. gast000@event).

Please test beforehand whether sufficient WLAN reception of the radio network operated by the HRZ with the SSID "guest-bonnet" is possible at the desired conference locations. 

You will find the currently existing access points under WLAN coverage.
