Program information:

IBM SPSS Statistics is a statistical data analysis program. It can import files from many formats and create tables and graphs, as well as perform complex statistical analysis. The program's output in the form of tables and graphs can be exported to many other programs. 

The program IBM SPSS Statistics had a modular structure, whereby the program available at the University of Bonn within the framework of the state license for universities in NRW contains the following modules:

Working with IBM SPSS Statistics is either menu-driven or by means of a command language (syntax).

If you need information about older versions, enter the data into the search field, for example SPSS Statistics 23, and choose the Documentation from the list of search results. 

As of version 25, there is direct access to the manuals in the SPSS program via the "Help" menu, "Documentation as a PDF". 

 

The following program versions are available:

  • IBM SPSS Statistics 26 for Windows, Macintosh or Linux
  • IBM SPSS Statistics 25 for Windows, Macintosh or Linux
  • IBM SPSS Statistics 24 for Windows, Macintosh or Linux

Before installing the program, be sure to check the system requirements of your computer and install only the appropriate version!

The language of the IBM SPSS Statistics program can be changed from the Edit Options menu. 

 

Installation of the program:

The program is installed as a single-user license. Administrator rights are required for the installation.

After the software has been installed, the License Authorization Assistant starts, which is used for licensing.

To license the program, an authorization code is required, which you receive with the purchase of the program. The license code that licenses the program in generated from this code and a lock code bound to the hard disk ID. This licensing required an Internet connection.

License:

Licensing procedure: see Installing the program. 

Please note that the license code must always match the installed version of the program!

A license code is always valid until 30.09. of a year. The program is executable one month longer. 

A single license entitles to a maximum of 2 installations on computers on which one and the same person is working and which are not used simultaneously. This means there is home use right for employees, students may install on their own PC and netbook. 

 

Extension of the license:

If you have already installed IBM SPSS Statistics and only want to renew the license, you must enter the new authorization code in the License Authorization Assistant:

The license authorization assistant first displays the current license with all licensed modules and their validity, then the new authorization code can be entered via "Next".

 

Troubleshooting:

Please keep your program up to date by installing the latest patches or fixed packs.

The current status of your SPSS program can be found in the program via the "Help" menu, submenu "Info...". There you can see from the "Release" which patch is already installed.

Select the appropriate client patch for your program (statistics), program version, and operating system, and note the additional information about this patch before downloading it. If you need patches/fix packs for a different version, you can change your selection in the right column.

To access the download page, you must log n with an IBM-ID that you can create after selecting the patch.
