Research Data Repository - RADAR

The Service Agency for Research Data offers researchers at the university the research data repository RADAR.

RADAR is used for non-public archiving (“shadow archiving”) of research data. The data sets are not publicly visible, but access can be granted to individual people.
(The bonndata service is available for the public publication of research data. You can find a comparison of the two services at: https://www.forschungsdaten.uni-bonn.de/en/services/data-repositories?set_language=en)

For whom?

RADAR is available to all researchers at the university.

What is it for

  • Research data archiving with custom access granting
Support from the Research Data Service for the allocation of metadata
Interoperability: The archived data is enriched with standardized, machine-readable metadata
The data is securely archived for a period of 10 or 15 years

How does it work?

You can access RADAR via the Research Data Service.

You can generally archive research data sets up to a size of 10 GB free of charge (possibly more on request).
For each additional gigabyte, the following is charged:
•    €6.90/GB for data archiving up to 15 years
•    €4.60/GB for data archiving up to 10 years
Only data from research and teaching may be uploaded and managed on RADAR. The service is not suitable for personal data and is not intended for private use or backup of data.
The system is based on the infrastructure of the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT).
