JupyterHub
The University of Bonn offers teachers and students a central JupyterHub system for virtual small group work in digital teaching programmes - directly accessible via eCampus.
For whom?
Lecturers
The offer is aimed at lecturers at the University of Bonn, who can integrate the JupyterHub system directly into their eCampus courses for students.
Authentication takes place via an interface with the eCampus platform.
For what?
JupyterHub offers user groups the following options:
- digital small group work in teaching
- a range of standardised work environments that can be freely adapted
- interactive processing and presentation of work results via the browser, e.g. the creation of lecture slides or word processing
- simple preparation and distribution of programmes
- JupyterHub is particularly suitable for work in the field of data science
How does it work?
Lecturers can integrate access to JupyterHub directly as a link in an eCampus course via the LTI consumer tab. This gives all course participants access to the JupyterHub learning environment.
In addition, a specific Jupyter profile for each student can be created for each eCampus course, which can be freely adapted to the needs of the course. Knowledge of programming languages is helpful in order to utilise all the possibilities of JupyterHub and adapt learning environments to individual requirements. JupyterHub is also suitable for learning to use programming languages.

The system is located entirely on the local infrastructure of the University of Bonn's University IT and Data Center. The use of JupyterHub is subject to the terms of use of eCampus and the usage regulations for the University IT and Data Center.
