Individual Consultation

If you are studying or working at the University of Bonn and have questions about IT topics, we are your central point of contact. No matter whether you want to attend an IT course, you are planning network access for your institute or you have a specific problem with IT services: We are here to support you with individual advice.

The University Computer Centre offers numerous courses, licences for user software and our IT helpdesk.

We have our own consulting teams for the following services, among others:

Confluence

Confluence is the virtual place where the employees of the University of Bonn develop and implement their projects together. There you will find important first-hand information, an environment in which you can work collaboratively, and the tools to effectively and efficiently organise your own day-to-day work according to your wishes.

If you would like personal advice, our specialists are ready to talk to you. We will be happy to help you with your questions, show you possible solutions and thus enable you to get a quick start working with Confluence. You can find a curated first introduction to this exciting world of work here.

Data Storage

A lot of electronic data accumulates in everyday university life. Sooner or later, the question will arise: How do I store and secure this data?

The University IT and Data Center (in collaboration with the Bonn University and State Library) maintains several services for both the short-term storage of data and its medium-term archiving, which are available to all members of the university.

We will be happy to advise you personally! Who you can contact with questions about storing research data, what research data actually is, when you can use our FDM service and what Sciebo can do - we'll tell you. In this way, you are optimally positioned with regard to your research data management.

Website

If you need to set up a website for a university institution, you will probably have many questions. For example, we would be happy to explain to you in a personal consultation how to obtain a URL for your institution's website and what advantages the central content management system Plone offers you.

To ensure that you, your team and your research results are visible worldwide, we are at your side.

HRZ-Café

Are you interested in our IT-infrastructure, are you an administrator at a university institution or do you shoulder responsibility in an IT area? Do you have questions regarding the different services of the University IT and Data Center? Or would you like to talk to other administrators and all who are interested and exchange tips on the use of the tools? Then you might want to visit one of the HRZ cafés.

During consultation hours you can ask specific questions about the different services.

Here you can find an overview over the cafés and consultation offers of the HRZ.
