Free places in the Excel classes
For the second installment of MS Excel classes, there are still places in both classes The MS Excel I class takes place from 24. – 26. August, each from 09:00 – 12:00 o'clock.  The MS Excel II class takes place from 07. – 09. September, each from 09:00 – 12:00 o'clock (on 09. September from 10:00 – 12:30). In both classes the contents are explained first, then you will have the chance to practice the contents in realistic contexts.  Both classes are held in German. The specific class contents can be found in the respective eCampus folders as well as in the HRZ documentation (only accessible via the BONNET/ VPN). For the Excel I class no previous knowledge is required, in the Excel II classes the contents from the Excel I classes are implied. However, it is not mandatory to visit the Excel I class beforehand.  Registration takes place eCampus. All classes are held in the HRZ own classroom.

Redesign of the Zoom Portal Landing Page
The login interface for the University of Bonn’s Zoom portal is being redesigned. The launch of the new homepage, originally scheduled for Monday, August 10, had to be temporarily postponed due to technical adjustments. Please refer to the following incident report for the latest details.  If the page looks unfamiliar to you but the URL is uni-bonn.zoom.us, the page is trustworthy and you can log in without hesitation.

Start of apprenticeships 2026 at the HRZ
We are happy to welcome two new trainees as part of our team since August 1. Luka Brix and Kilian Vogt have started their apprenticeships for IT specialist for system integration at the HRZ. Dr Rainer Bockholt, director of the HRZ, warmly welcomed them on their first day. After that, they had their first opportunity to meet their future colleagues and teachers.  Insight into the work routine: What our trainees can expect The training for IT specialist for system integration is diverse and demanding as our trainess will learn about all departments of the HRZ in the next three years, and will learn about the basics of all our services. In addition to the classes at the vocational school, this includes theoretical basics but primarily practical application. The trainees will learn how complex IT systems for many university members are planned, installed and maintained. This includes profound knowledge about networks, to operate the technology in the 300 university buildings, server administration on the basis of Linux operating systems and the IT security.  We are happy about our new colleagues, who are trained here to work in a forward-looking vocation. In the past, the HRZ has trained more that 30 IT specialists, who now work in different fields, most of them at the university.
